Why do solo travelers  travel with Vertical Explorers?

Great group sizes, no compulsory single room supplements on most of our trips and the security of group travel in more remote parts of the world are just some of the reasons we attract solo travellers to our award-winning group tours.

Everything in our itineraries is included , so no hidden surprises and more transparency with upfront costs. Not to mention the great value for money you will get on each trip. There are no compulsory single supplements as all our prices are based on sharing a twin room with another group member of the same sex. However there is also the option to have your own room, get in touch and we can advise of additional costs involved depending on trip. Groups tend to stay together for most of the trip as our itineraries have daily sightseeing or other activities but there is always the flexibility to do your own thing during any free time if you choose.

Solo Travelers – Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re thinking of joining a tour as a solo traveler, know that you’re not alone. We welcome solo travelers on all our group tours. To help you decide if joining a group tour is right for you, here are some FAQs asked by solo travelers.

Will I have to pay more as a solo traveler?

If you want your own room at no extra cost, check out our selection of tours above. On other tours, you’ll only pay more if you want your own room. If you’re happy to share, we’ll pair you up with another solo traveler. On the majority of our tours we offer a ‘no compulsory single supplement’. This means even if we can’t pair you up, solo travelers will not need to pay the single supplement.

What should I expect as a solo traveler?

We include arrival transfers on our group tours, which means we’ll meet you at the airport and transfer you to our joining hotel. Here you’ll meet your tour leader and the rest of the group, which makes for a hassle-free arrival. The group often gels quickly and will choose to spend meals together but you have the choice to be as involved or as independent as you like. Even if you’re the only solo traveler on the tour, you’ll find the rest of the group friendly and eager to include you. Solo travelers can often look forward to making life-long friends on group tours with us.

Will there be other solo travelers on tour?

Our tours attract travelers of various ages and from countries all over the English-speaking world. You’ll find a mix of solos, couples and groups of friends travelling together on tour. And it’s unlikely you’ll be the only solo traveller. Some destinations attract more solos than others

How does the accommodation work?

Solo travelers of the same sex will be paired up to share a twin room. If you have opted for the single supplement then you will be accommodated in a single room. These rooms will either have one double bed for single use or a single bed.
