Pakistan is home to some of the most spectacular and challenging mountains in the world, attracting climbers and adventurers from all over the globe. With five peaks above 8000 meters, and more than 100 peaks above 7000 meters, Pakistan offers a variety of options for mountaineering expeditions. However, not all climbers are ready or willing to tackle the highest and most difficult peaks. For those who seek a more moderate but still rewarding adventure, there are plenty of peaks in the range of 6000 to 7000 meters that offer stunning views, diverse terrain, and a sense of achievement.
We will highlight some of the best 6000 to 7000 m expeditions in Pakistan, based on their popularity, accessibility, difficulty, and scenery. These expeditions are suitable for climbers who have some experience in high-altitude trekking and basic mountaineering skills, but do not require advanced technical skills or equipment. Of course, every expedition requires proper planning, preparation, and guidance, and climbers should always respect the local culture, environment, and regulations.
Khosar Gang 6040 m
is a mountain located in Shigar valley of Baltistan, Pakistan. It is the tallest mountain in the Shigar Valley, with an official height of 6400 meters, although some climbers claim it is actually 6040 meters. The name Khosar Gang means “Ice Pumpkin” in the local Balti language. It is a popular destination for mountaineers who want to train and acclimatize for higher peaks in the Karakoram range.
Do you like mountain climbing? Khosar Gang is a great choice for beginners and intermediate climbers who want to experience the thrill of high-altitude mountaineering. Khosar Gang has a rich history and culture associated with it. According to local folklore, the peak is home to a powerful spirit who protects the valley from evil forces.
Khosar Gang offers stunning views of the surrounding Karakoram mountains and the Shigar valley. From the top, you can see peaks like Spantik, Nanga Parbat, and many others that are over 5000 meters high.
Gondogoro Peak (6,650 m)

The ascent and descent can be done in one day, depending on the weather and acclimatization. The total duration of the expedition is about 20 days.
Trango Tower (6,286 m)
Trango Tower is one of the most impressive and challenging rock formations in the world, located on the Baltoro Glacier in the Karakoram. It is a complex of vertical granite spires, rising above 1000 meters from the glacier. The tower has several routes, ranging from very hard to extremely hard, and requiring high-level rock climbing skills and equipment. The most famous and classic route is the Norwegian Route, which ascends the east face of the tower in 39 pitches. The route is graded as 7c+ (5.13a) and A2, and takes about a week to complete. The tower offers a stunning view of the surrounding peaks, such as K2, Gasherbrum IV, and Uli Biaho. The expedition starts from Skardu, and follows the Baltoro Glacier to the Trango Base Camp, which can be reached in about 10 days. The total duration of the expedition is about 35 days
