Skardu Airport

Skardu Airport (IATA: KDU, ICAO: OPSD), at an elevation of 2230 m, is located 11 miles from the city in North West direction is a domestic civil airport in Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It is one of the most scenic domestic airports in Pakistan.

Skardu Airport has two asphalt runways, one 8,740 ft (2,664 m) long and the other 11,944 ft (3,641 m) long. The airport operates from dawn to dusk.

It is connected to Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan and Gilgit, the provincial capital of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan through regular Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights.

It also serves as a forward operating base of the Pakistan Air Force. Skardu airport is equipped with Arrival,Departure and VIP lounge to cater the needs of passengers. There are many development schemes are in process to better facilitate the airlines and passengers.

Skardu, along with Gilgit, are the major tourism, trekking and expedition hubs in Gilgit-Baltistan.

It therefore attracts tourists from around the world. Due to extreme weather and mountainous terrain, the means for getting around are limited. Hotels are available in the city to cater to the significant tourist activity.
