There is no single best month for all of Pakistan, because the country runs from the Arabian Sea to the Karakoram. The right question is which month suits the region you are going to and the kind of trip you want.

Mountain seasons

  • June to August: the main trekking and mountaineering window. Passes and roads are open, and the higher routes are accessible.
  • May and September: shoulder months, generally calmer, useful for acclimatisation and for routes at lower altitude.
  • October and November: late-season clarity in the higher valleys, with colder nights.
  • December to March: winter. Some lower-altitude destinations remain open, while high mountain routes are not viable.
  • April and May: blossom season in the valleys, though high passes can still be snowbound.

Seasonal highlights

Two short windows are worth planning around if they match your dates: the spring blossom across the Hunza and Ghizer valleys, and the autumn colours in Baltistan and the upper valleys. Both are weather dependent and neither is guaranteed.
