Understanding Physical Activity Levels offers guided tours with varying physical demands. We categorize our tours as low, moderate, high, or very high in terms of physical activity to provide travelers with an understanding of what to expect.

The physical activity level is determined based on the activities included in the itinerary. Factors such as the amount and type of walking, standing, and stair-climbing involved are considered in relation to the group’s participation.

Please note that free time activities are not factored into the overall rating. The intensity of physical activity may vary based on how each traveler chooses to spend their free time, whether on excursions, independent exploration, or relaxation.

Explanation of Each Physical Activity Level

 

Low

 Low This level is suitable for individuals who prefer short walks and low-intensity activities. You can enjoy scenic views without exerting excessive energy.

On these tours, you can expect to:

  • Walk approximately 1 mile per day (more with additional excursions)
  • Navigate mostly flat, paved surfaces or indoor areas
  • Encounter occasional well-maintained stairs
  • Stand briefly during guided commentary and photo stops
  • Manage your own luggage
  • Board and disembark from a motor coach independently

Moderate

Moderate This level is ideal for those comfortable with moderate walks and occasional stairs. You’ll have ample time to explore while enjoying breaks to appreciate your surroundings.

  • Encounter mostly flat, paved terrain with some stairs and gentle slopes
  • Climb some stairs, typically well-maintained

  • Climb stairs of varying heights, sometimes without handrails

 Very High This level is designed for individuals who enjoy vigorous physical activity for extended periods. It includes challenging hikes and demanding activities.

On these tours, you can expect to:

  • Take extensive walks, approximately 3–5 miles per day (occasionally more with additional excursions)
  • Navigate diverse terrains such as city streets, cobblestones, rocky paths, uneven stairs, and steep hills
  • Climb tall sets of stairs, sometimes without handrails
  • Stand for prolonged periods during guided tours
  • Manage your own luggage
  • Board and disembark from a coach independently
